Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a beloved children’s novel by British author Roald Dahl, first published in 1964. The story follows the adventures of young Charlie Bucket, a kind and gentle boy who wins a golden ticket to tour the mysterious and magical chocolate factory of Willy Wonka.
Plot
The story begins with Charlie Bucket, a poor boy who lives with his parents and four grandparents in a small house. Charlie’s life is filled with poverty and hardship, but he remains optimistic and kind. Willy Wonka, the eccentric and reclusive chocolatier, announces that he has hidden five golden tickets inside his chocolate bars, granting the finders a tour of his mysterious and magical chocolate factory.
Charlie finds one of the golden tickets, along with four other children: Augustus Gloop, a gluttonous boy who loves to eat; Veruca Salt, a spoiled and demanding girl; Violet Beauregarde, a gum-chewing girl with a bad habit; and Mike Teavee, a television-obsessed boy. The five children and their parents visit the factory, where they encounter a series of strange and fantastical events.
